Habs/Canes Post-Game, Kaberle, Sutton and More

Morning puck fans!

The Canadiens lost a heartbreaker last night against the Hurricanes, although they had rallied from a 0-2 deficit to take a one goal lead headining into the final frame.

But, really, the game was the reflection of their season. When the pressure was on for the Habs to build, to capitalize on their momentum, they were tentative and uncertain.

And that uncertainty cost them, as the Canes stormed back - no pun intended - in the third period, eventually winning the game 5-3.

Mind you, this loss does not completely exclude the Canadiens from the playoff chase - mostly because the bottom spots in the East has seen teams like Ottawa, Toronto and Washington struggle of late.

As of this morning, Sports Club Stats gives Montreal a 19.7% chance of qualifying for the post-season. Not exactly betting odds, eh?

Louis' Note: With Francois Beauchemin and Tim Gleason also signing extensions recently, the market for rearguards is thinning considerably. This is good news for the Canadiens, who will likely trade Hal Gill by the deadline.
