So, what's that saying again? The more things change, the more they stay the same.
The Montreal Canadiens scored three power play goals against the Wild, a feat that has been virtually unprecedented this season. Big change.
Then, after building a comfortable 4-1 cushion, the Habs were again unable to protect their lead, allowing the Wild to eventually force overtime with ten seconds left in the game. Same old.
In the end, David Desharnais provided the only goal in shootout, allowing the Canadiens to snap their five game losing skid.
Oddly enough, although the Canadiens were afforded seven powerplays, Tomas Plekanec only received forty seconds of duty on the man-advantage.
Punishment? Maybe. But, then again, Scott Gomez got a full two minutes of powerplay work. Perhaps, as Francois Gagnon points out, Randy Cunneyworth is not the only one pulling the strings.
In any case, do you think Plekanec's recent utilization is a bit strange?

Yeah, don't know what the deal is... line demotion, less ice time. Wonder if they really did ask him to make a trade possible and he said no (despite what's been said). :?
@anon: It's hard to say but there is no question that Plek's role has diminished considerably under Cunneyworth.
I think everything will play itself out this summer...coaching, personnel, management...I think there are more shakeups to come!
