Earlier this season, many
fans and journalists were calling for the head of Jacques Martin.
It was said that his methods were outdated, his communication skills inadequate.
On December 17th 2011,
these people got their wish. Martin was relieved of his duties, replaced by
Randy Cunneyworth.
Be careful what you wish for.
Not only were the Canadiens – who would eventually lead the league in man-games
lost to injury – only two points out of a playoff berth, but it also turns out
that Jacques Martin is a far more pleasant, good humored and loquacious
individual than many had given him credit.
Last night, he appeared on
Radio-Canada’s Tout le monde en parle program
and delivered a highly-entertaining interview.
For your viewing pleasure,
here is the video (in French) below. His answer regarding Scott Gomez is
priceless.
