As of this writing, I must say, it is a quiet morning on the news front.
So, let me ask a question to start off our week.
We have been following The Hockey News' daily standing predictions and last week they slotted our beloved Montreal Canadiens in 13th place.
Do you think the Habs will do better than that? Where do you think Marc Bergevin's team will finish in 2012-13?

- Jack Todd comments on Gary Bettman's apparent love of lockouts. Between that and Donald Fehr's penchant for strikes, it will be a minor miracle if the season starts on time — if at all.

I dont care where THN slates the Habs. I see them as somewhere between 1st and 15th, as i dont know lineup yet.
And THN knows the Habs lineup already i suppose? Is Weber traded? Kaberle, is Diaz in pressbox, Leblanc on 3rd line, Armstrong make team? Who is 4th line centre?

they are a better team than the one that made the conf finals few years back!!! with a little luck and some arse kicking by MT the habs could go all the way!!!
I am thinking that the Canadiens have been rather slow on a lot of fronts this off season, I know they locked up Patches, but have drug their feet on Subban what are they waiting for? Are they trying to lose him or what? I also realize they have locked up Price but I feel and have felt for sometime now they need to get bigger up front which I don't think they have done. so based on these feelings I will put them in around 8-9 and hope its 8th!!!
I would tend to agree with The Bug re: his prediction. Borderline playoff team seems about right, especially considering the strides other non-playoff teams like Tampa Bay and Carolina made.
Having said that, I don't think the Canadiens have been slow this off-season. In fact, between the retooling of the front office and the extensions to Patches and Price, Bergevin and cie have been quite proactive.
I agree that we havent done a whole lot on the ice to make major improvements. However, anyone who was expecting a quick fix to the current mess should be patient. Very seldom do quick rebuilds produce a cup winning team. I think bergeron has improved our off ice team in such a way that we will not see so many failed prospects with the canadiens. If you look at the number of players who did nothing with the habs and went on to play great hockey with other teams, it's outstanding. We have ruined a lot of players over the years due to management. I expect the whole plan to start to take shape in about 2 years after Bergeron can accurately assess what we have in the NHL and in Junior.
