MAXIM LAPIERRE UNDER CONTRACT FOR THE 2010-11 SEASON
MONTREAL (July 13, 2010) – Montreal Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier announced today the signing of forward Maxim Lapierre to a one-year contract (2010-11). As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
In 2009-10, Lapierre, completed his fourth season with the Canadiens. The 25-year-old center registered 14 points (seven goals, seven assists), and fired 101 shots on goal in 76 games. He led the Canadiens with a career-high 164 hits in the regular season and 49 hits in 19 playoff games.
Since making his NHL debut in 2005-06, Lapierre has amassed 72 points (35 goals, 37 assists) with 416 shots on goal and 221 penalty minutes in 255 regular-season games. The 6-foot-2, 207-pound forward also registered seven
points (three goals, four assists) and 64 shots on goal in 35 career NHL playoff games.
A native of a Saint-Léonard, Quebec, Lapierre was selected in the second round, 61st overall by the Canadiens at the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
