Greetings Habs addicts! Sorry about the lack of content lately but I have been on a two-week hiatus out of town, and just got back!
Not only am I happy to be hope but I am also eager to dive back into the Habs.
With the Canadiens' rookie camp starting tomorrow and their pro camp only a week away, I thought it was a good time to ask you what you think the keys are to the Habs success this season.
Moreover, who are the five player that YOU think will be the difference between the Habs having success or failure, and why do you think so?
I'm going to post this piece on Hockeybuzz.com, The Bleacher Report, and HabsAddict.com and put together a consensus piece based on YOUR responses.
So let me know who you think are the five key players, and why, in the comments section or by emailing me—using contact link above.
Don't worry if you can only think of two or three players that are key. Just let me know who they are and why they will be key.
Let the games begin!

Price, Gorges, Cammalieri Gomez and PK.
Price, Markov, Pleks,Cammaleri & Gomez
Thanks.
Price, Pouliot, AK46, Cammy, Pleks
I would say: Price, Markov, Gomez, A Kostitsyn and PK Subban.
If they all play to their full potential I would say we are in for a very good year.
Price - Because the pressure is on to see if he can play like the number one he is expected to be under the immense pressure he will be subjected to.
Markov - Because we know he is great, but will the recovery from his injury be a setback?
Gomez - Sure he's a playmaker not a goal scorer but his performance during the playoffs was spotty.
A Kostitsyn - Now that his brother is gone maybe the real AK can emerge. The one scored a hat trick and then became invisible during the playoffs is not the one we want on the team.
PK Subban - A gifted player with talent to burn. Hopefully JM's defensive style will not extinguish his fire. And hopefully his enthusiasm will be tempered by the wisdom of his team mates -- Markov, Gill etc. -- to keep rookie mistakes to a minimum.
Also Plekanecs is a big factor but that makes six picks but he is my bonus pick because he will be so vital to our offensive punch...
The 5 key players that I would choose are not the established stars like Cammaleri, Pleks, Gomez, Gionta, and Markov. I EXPECT those players to have very good seasons. They are the leaders and they get paid for it.
The key players that I would choose are the borderline guys that MUST have a bounce back year or a breakout year in order for the Habs to really succeed. Those 5 players, in order, are:
Carey Price, P.K. Subban, Andrei Kostitysn, Benoit Pouliot, and Lars Eller. If these 5 break out this year, look out! The Bell Centre will be rocking again next Spring!
Good stuff, folks! Thank you all for your comments!
Again, I'm going to be compiling all of the responses I am getting and posting a consensus article in about a week.
Thanks for participating!
In this order:
Price: As he goes sdo to does the team. If he flounders then look out because it's going to be a long season
Markov: Let's be honest. Look at thew record with him in the line and with him out of the line-up. As he goes so too does the team.
Plekanec: When the team is a bottom feeder in the NHL in goals scored this is becomes a crucial element. He is the catalyst for our offensive production, is a catralyst for Cammie and Kostitsyn
Gomez: He'll never live up to that contract but he still needs to produce 50-70 points a year. If we can get this from our top 2 centers we'll be in good shape
Halpern: I know the majority will disagree but he is crucial for this team. Why? Our F/O's have been horrific. t has been my personal beleif that our faceoff inabaility has been the downfall of our defensive zone coverage. The more often we start with the puck, the less often we are chasing it. The less often we are chasing it the better we are offensively.
If Halpern can provide a defensive minded center who excels at faceoffs then we are going to have a betetr season than we did last year.
