Canadiens recall Andreas Engqvist from the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs
MONTREAL (October 6, 2011) – The Montreal Canadiens announced today that forward Andreas Engqvist has been recalled from the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs.
In six preseason games with the Canadiens, Engqvist registered one assist. The 23-year old centreman recorded three shots on goal.
The 6’04’’, 201 lbs centreman suited up for three games with the Canadiens in 2010-11, including his first NHL career game, on January 21 at Ottawa. Engqvist collected 25 points (10 goals, 15 assists) in 71 games with the Hamilton Bulldogs. Three of his goals were tallied on the powerplay. He served 18 penalty minutes, registered 137 shots on goal and maintained a +8 plus/minus differential.
The Canadiens will open their regular season tonight against the Maple Leafs, at Air Canada Centre in Toronto. Their first home game will be played on Thursday, October 13 against the Calgary Flames, at the Bell Centre.
