Price Signs, Roy Traded, Bergevin, Jokinen and More

Carey Price - Montreal Canadiens v Vancouver Canucks
Good morning Hab fans!

When Marc Bergevin repeatedly pushed back his scheduled July 1st press conference, everyone suspected something was in the works.

That notion was confirmed yesterday when Carey Price was signed to a six-year, 39$ million deal. According to CapGeek, this means that Montreal has roughly 62$ million committed to 22 players.

As for Price's deal, this seems to fall well within the current market for goaltenders. His 6.5$ million cap hit falls somewhere between Pekka Rinne, Jonathan Quick, Ryan Miller and Henrik Lundqvist.

Overall, are you satisfied with this deal?

Yes, I am. We inked Price for six seasons. He's infinitely more valuable to us than Gomez and we had him at 1 million less per season. It's a steal. It's often said you build a winning team from defense up, well, this is a great start.

@Ben: I'm not sure it's a steal but, imo, it's a good deal. It's probably a little bit of an over pay for the first year or so but it will look like a great deal over the back nine.

Price is the backbone of this team and he's locked in for 6 years. I like it...

Kamal,

the guy is 24 years old. How amazing is that? He already went through a lot and this season, he'll actually have defensive players to help him along and not offensive players neutered by a stubborn coach. I'm really looking forward to what Price can do, especially in the next two or three years as our tons of defense prospects come to maturity.

I agree with my colleague Kamal. Not exactly a steal, but it's a deal in the same range as Lundqvist, Rinne, Miller, Quick and others. Term is relatively reasonable as well.

Overall, well done, not a gross overpayment or immovable deal.

WORST SIGNING OF ANY PLAYER IN THE HISTORY OF PROFESSIONAL SPORTS NOT JUST HOCKEY, HE IS AN UNDER ACHIEVING LOSER COWBOY WANNABE !!!

AND THE MGMT OF THIS TEAM OBVIOUSLY DID NOT AND HAS NOT AND CONTINUES NOT TO LEARN A THING FROM THE ENTIRE SCOTT GOMEZ AFFAIR.

AND HE ALLOWED THE LARGEST NUMBER OF ONE GOAL LOSSES IN NHL HISTORY, 26, BY ANY GOAL TENDER EVER ON A TEAM THAT HAD THE #1 LEAGUE TEAM DEFENSE WEAK AFTER WEAK FOR 95% OF THE SEASON...AND THE TEAM THAT HAD THE DEFENSMEN THAT BLOCKED THE MOST SHOTS OVERALL AND ALLOWED THE FEWEST AMOUNT OF EVEN STRENGTH GOALS OVERALL. FOR THE 5TH YEAR INA ROW, HE FAILED MISERABLY TO REACH HIS GOAL, ANY GOAL, AND AT TIMES WITH AN INEXPLICABLE MISPLACED CONFIDENCE IT SEEMED...HE CAME OUT TO PLAY A PUCK THAT BECAUSE OF HIS OWN MISTAKE ENDED UP EITHER IN OUR GOAL OR BEING THE ONE THAT GOT IN OUR GOAL THAT ACTUALLY LOST THAT GAME WE WERE IN FOR US. HE IS BY FAR, THE SINGLE WORST SCOUTED GOAL TENDER IN NHL HISTORY AND AS THE DENIAL CONTINUES OVER HIS AND HIS 100% TO ANYONE WHO KNOWS THIS GAME, COMPLETELY FLAWED GLOVE HAND AND OVER ALL GAME PLAY, AND THE FACT THAT HE MAY JUST BE THE WORST COACHED NHL PLAYER IN HISTORY AS WELL, OR NOT COACHED THAT SHOULD BE, IT IS INCONCEIVABLE THAT TEAM NEEDING THE SERVICES OF A FORWARD, EXACTLY LIKE THAT OF A FORWARD LIKE JAROMIR JAGR, COULD HAVE HIM COME TO THEM... AND OFFER HIS SERVICES AND BE TOLD NO, "WE ARE NOT INTERESTED, EVEN FOR ONE YEAR"...NO...?... BUT THEY ARE INA 39 MILLION INVESTMENT ON A GUY THAT HAS PROVED OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN FOR 5 YEARS STRAIGHT THAT HE IS NOTHIGN LESS THAN A MISTAKE WAITING TO HAPPEN...THAT WE CAN AFFORD...?...

THIS TEAM IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE WITH MOVES LIKE THIS EXCEPT THE SAME PLACE THEY HAVE BEEN THE PAST 20 YEARS... NO WHERE...AND ON A BOBSLED AT THAT!!!
