While Marchand is a skilled player who has shown what he can deliver on the ice, Subban also displays tons of talent but in a position that is in higher demand. With that being said, many people - okay, many people in Montreal - feel that Subban will be rewarded with a more luxurious contract.
TVA however, has reported that Subban will possibly sign before September 15th at a price very similar to Marchand's.

don't gloat to much Habs were ranked 111th out of 122 teams
I hope TVA is right, that would be a great deal for the Habs. Can't imagine PK and his agent would be too thrilled. We would be paying 4M for a guy that plays 27 minutes on many nights. Most of those guys are makings 6-7.5M. I would prefer 6-7 years for PK but that would cost around 6-6.5M I would think.
I hope this one is true.....but I wouldn't bet the house on it. It'll cost us big time on his next contract, could be as high as 8M by then depending on the cap.
