Well, turns out Carlyle's hiring paid immediate dividends for the Leafs this weekend. Remains to be seen if that can keep up for the rest of the season.
Even if they do, it may be difficult to distance themselves from the others teams in the conference.
The Leafs recent fall and the snails pace of other teams in the East have made the battle for the final playoff spot an interesting one.
Between Winnipeg, who hold that final berth, and the 13th ranked Islanders, there is only a five point difference.
Too bad the Habs aren't part of this conversation. Montreal is 15th, in case you forgot.
And, given how poorly Montreal usually does out west, one suspects that won't change anytime soon.
