Per Bob McKenzie of TSN (on Twitter), the Montreal Canadiens have traded Ryan O'Byrne to Colorado for Michael Bournival.
It seemed inevitable that O'Byrne was going to be traded and he now goes to a team that is decimated by injuries and can use him on the back end.

Salary Cap
Ryan O'Byrne's cap hit is $941,667 according to Capgeek.com.
Speak with Brian LaRose of Habsworld.net he explained that:
"The cap savings that the Habs get from the trade is what is remaining of O'Byrne's contract, which is his full season cap hit less what has been spent ($941,667-$177,195) which is $764,472."

Good work Kamal :) - Anthony (ABrownHockey)
Thanks Anthony, and thanks for reading!
Not a fan of getting rid of O'Byrne since Hamr and Spacek will probably be toast in the very near future but I also thought OB could fill one of those holes. Not to familiar with any Bulldog Dmen other than Weber. So could be a good move.
Is it me or is all the talk about Michael Bournival the same as Lars Eller?? :)
Make a trade, Markov is on the ir it gives them salary room, we need to bring in a top 6 forward, who can play the point on the power play. I think the 6 d they have now with picard, is strong enough between geroges, subban, hamrlik, gil and spaeck's shutdown capabilities, they just need to add a little more o to there pp (but then again that was pretty good the last two games without markov)
Hi all and thanks for your comments!
@Hirky: I thought that OB didn't get a fair shake under Jacques Martin but it was clear he was out of the picture. My only concern was depth. Now that Markov is injured, it would be pretty nice to have OB around.
Bournival seems like he is a Travis Moen-ish player with more speed and skill.
@Anon: I think that if Markov is gone for the season and the Habs keep playing well, that Gauthier will have no choice but to make a trade.
The Habs defense is decent but I am fearful of Hamr and Spacek playing too many minutes before the playoffs. The Habs need to find a true top-4 defenseman and a top-6 winger.
Those, to me, and the two most glaring holes. If Markov's $$ comes off of the cap due to LTIR, I think the Habs will definitely start fishing.
Kevin Bieksa seems to be a player who fits the bill.
Who would you try to get?
