Habs sign Gorges, Winter Classic pushed back, Concussions, Rumours and more

Morning Habs addicts!

It's all quiet on the Habs front with the Canadiens on a break until Wednesday. Montreal will be playing their first home game of the year, against the Jets, and will be hoping yet again to get back in the win column.

The big news, however, was that GM Pierre Gauthier broke from protocol and signed Josh Gorges to a six-year extension. Gauthier, known for refusing to negotiate contracts during the season, got this one right.

With an average cap hit of $3.9 million per season this contract is a slight overpay, but still good value.

In other news, the start time for the Cinter Classic has been pushed back to 3 PM today, due to weather. Speaking of the Classic, ESPN's Scott Burnside and Pierre LeBrun do a great preview of the game alongside Barry Melrose.

Is it me, or does he look more like the Dapper Don every day?
