Habs win in SO, Stewart, White, Deadline and More

Anthony Stewart - New York Rangers v Carolina Hurricanes
Morning Hab fans.

Well, if nothing else, that was an exciting contest last night, wasn't it?

And, to boot, the Habs won a rare shootout contest on the strength of Carey Price's goaltending. Refereshing stuff.

However, for some, there was still some disappointment yesterday.

Many, including yours truly, were hoping the Canadiens would put in a claim for Anthony Stewart, who was put on waivers by the Carolina Hurricanes.

An inexpensive, still young player, Stewart is a bulking winger able to provide decent, secondary scoring.

While there are questions about his conditioning, he could have been an interesting option to replace Travis Moen and Mathieu Darche, two impending UFAs who are likely on their way out. And he certainly would be an upgrade over Michael Blunden or Petteri Nokelainen.

As a bonus, he could have been had for free via waivers and is a native of LaSalle, Quebec.

Just saying.
