Official Press Release - Canadiens Sign Curtis Sanford

CANADIENS SIGN NETMINDER CURTIS SANFORD TO A ONE-YEAR CONTRACT

MONTREAL (July 1, 2010) – Montreal Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier announced today the signing of netminder Curtis Sanford to a one-year contract (2010-11). As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The 30-year old Sanford, played 41 games with the Hamilton Bulldogs in 2009-10 recording 23 wins, including four by shutout, 11 losses and 3 overtime losses with a 2.13 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage. In the Bulldogs’ Calder Cup run, Sanford added 5 wins, including two shutouts in nine AHL playoff games.

Throughout his NHL career with the St. Louis Blues and the Vancouver Canucks, the 5’11’’ - 185 lbs netminder recorded 37 wins, including five shutouts, in 108 regular season games. Sanford has maintained a 2.76 goals-against average along with a .901 save percentage.

Born in Owen Sound, ON, Sanford initially had signed a contract as a free agent with the Canadiens on July 20, 2009.
