Official Press Release - Canadiens Sign Dustin Boyd

CANADIENS SIGN FORWARD DUSTIN BOYD TO A ONE-YEAR CONTRACT

MONTREAL (July 1, 2010) – Montreal Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier announced today the signing of forward Dustin Boyd to a one-year contract (2010-11). As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Boyd, 23, split the 2009-10 season between the Calgary Flames and the Predators playing a combined total of 78 games and recording a personal career-high with 24 points (11 goals, 13 assists). He also had a +6 plus/minus ratio while averaging 12:13 of time on ice. Boyd fired 112 shots on the opposing goal and tallied three game-winning goals.

The 6’0 and 187 lbs centreman completed his fourth NHL season in 2009-10. Since he first joined the NHL in 2006-07, Boyd has amassed 62 points (31 goals and 31 assists) in 210 regular season games, along with 240 shots on goal while eight of his tallies were game-winning goals. He also added one goal in nine playoff match-ups.

Boyd was a gold medalist with Team Canada at the 2006 World Junior Hockey Championship. He was named to the WHL East First All-Star Team that same year.

A native of Winnipeg, Boyd was a third-round selection, 98th overall by the Calgary Flames at the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He was traded to the Nashville Predators on March 3, 2010.
