Official Press Release - Canadiens Sign Frederic St. Denis

CANADIENS SIGN FREE AGENT FRÉDÉRIC ST-DENIS TO A ONE-YEAR CONTRACT

MONTREAL (July 1, 2010) – Montreal Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier announced today the signing of free agent defenseman Frédéric St-Denis to a one-year contract (2010-11).

A 24-year old defenseman who hails from Greenfield Park, QC, the 5’-11’’ and 190 lbs St-Denis completed his first full season with the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs in 2009-10 with a record of 17 points (3 goals, 14 assists) in 59 games. St-Denis who showed a +20 plus/minus ratio in the regular season added one helper and had a +2 plus/minus ratio in the Bulldogs 19-game playoff run.
In his first season at the professional hockey level in 2008-09, St-Denis recorded 23 points (1 goal, 22 assists) in 41 games as a member of the ECHL Cincinnati Cyclones before adding 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) in 7 games with the Bulldogs.

Between 2002 and 2007, St-Denis tallied 155 points (44 goals and 111 assists) in 285 games with the QMJHL Drummondville Voltigeurs. He also suited up with the Université du Québec Patriotes, in the CIS, in 2007-08 where he
amassed 18 points (4 goals, 14 assists) in 28 games.

Frédéric St-Denis signed an AHL contract with the Hamilton Bulldogs as a free agent on September 27, 2008.

He also took part in the Canadiens’ rookie camp in September 2009.

retromikey here, all i have to say is that i love what gainey and gauthier have done. They are my hero's.

Retromikey: I wonder if that is sarcasm or not. If it is sarcasm, then "chup, chup, chup!".

If it's not sarcasm, then I'd have to say that I don't comepletely agree with you. While they have made some decent moves, there have been far to many missteps, imo.
