Habs/Canes, White and Schultz up, Red Wings, Rumors and More

Max Pacioretty - Montreal Canadiens v New York Islanders
Morning puck fans!

In all honesty, I am a bit behind the eight ball this A.M, so I will forego my usual commentary and head straight to the news roundup which is, per usual, well garnished.

Before doing so, just a quick question: aren't you happy the Habs made the Leafs' lives a bit more complicated on Saturday?

I am.

Louis,

Definitely happy but more because if we are within 3 points by the start of March, anything is possible. As for the Leafs, they head out West where it is so tight no game is going to be easy. So we might just have set some good things in motion to be within 1-2 games by March 1st. Any ways as we all know, we just have to do what's in our power and that's WIN!

@san_man11

Good point about the Leafs out west. Ottawa's recent downward spiral started there, and the Habs do not fare too well on the left-coast either.

Hopefully that trend occurs for T.O as well.

The game on Saturday evening February 11, 2012 was a great one as the Habs stuck to their game plan. The Canadiens clogged up the neutral zone not allowing the free wheeling Leafs to do so, thus they seem to score on some pretty easy shots at Reimer. Mind you I'm not complaining at all, but what I don't understand is how they could come home Monday and allow the Canes to free wheel and score two fairly easy goals making a come back necessary but falling short in the end. The Habs always seem to succumb to the lesser lites, they certainly have me confused especially at home. Tonight should be a barn burner with Bruins after they were shut out 3-0 last night against the Rangers. I'm sure Chara will have a burr under his saddle after the night he had so lookout Patches. Just as a side note I'm not sure what happened but I lost my Habs addict for a few days and had to go back on google to get it back!!!

@Charles: I think what separates the great teams from the not so great teams, is the ability to beat opposition that they SHOULD beat.

i.e. teams below you in the standings. Sure anything can happen, but, as you pointed out, the Habs always seem to play up or down to their opposition. That is the hallmark of a team that's not very good.

Tonight should be awesome...then again, any Habs/Bs game tends to be great to watch!
